SOFTBALL ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America recognized baseball junior
Dave Brehm and softball sophomore
Abbey Fortin for their performance on the field and in the classroom this year as the duo was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District teams as announced by the organization May 10.
Both student-athletes were previously recognized for their on-field achievements this year when the East Coast Conference named them to the first-team all-conference squads, with Fortin garnering ECC Player of the Year and the ECC Championship's Most Outstanding Player award.
Fortin has compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.92 as a criminal justice major, while Brehm boasts a 3.57 GPA as an accounting major. Both have had big seasons this year for their respective teams, with Fortin hitting over .400 at the plate with 15 home runs and 56 runs batted in. The Canadian blasted three home runs during the ECC Tournament, including the game-winning two-run shot against the University of Bridgeport in the opening round.
Brehm has also had an outstanding season as a junior, breaking out for a .361 average with 60 hits and 27 RBIs. Brehm currently leads the team in batting average and ranks second in hits. In a win at Queens College, he blasted his only home run of the season as part of a three-hit performance.
With the first-team all-district honors, both students are eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-American honors announced on June 6.
