Baseball Rises to No. 5 in NCBWA East Region Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. –
On the heels of a series sweep against Lincoln University, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) tabbed the LIU Post baseball team at No. 5 in its East Region rankings Monday.
 
The Pioneers garnered 40 points to move up from No. 6 to No. 5.
 
Most recently, LIU Post defeated Lincoln 28-3 and 18-2 on Saturday, March then on Sunday, March 24 the Pioneers earned 14-5 and 16-1 victories at Lions Field.
 
LIU Post's 28 runs in game one against Lincoln tied the second-highest single-game run total in program history as it also accomplished the feat in a 28-1 win over Brooklyn College in 1985. The Pioneers' single-game run record came in a 39-18 win over the City College of New York in 1976.
 
On the week the Pioneers tallied 79 runs, 77 hits, 68 RBI, nine doubles, three home runs, two doubles and 11 stolen bases.

The Pioneers host Saint Thomas Aquinas College (9-10) in a four-game series beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29 at the LIU Post Baseball Field.
