NCBWA RELEASE

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Freshman Joshua Loeschorn of the LIU Post baseball team was honored as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the organization Tuesday.
 
Loeschorn, who was also honored as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Pitcher of the Week, earned two wins in a pair of complete games last week. He struck out six while allowing one earned run and three hits in the Pioneers 3-1 victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Monday, April 1 at the LIU Post Baseball Field then followed with a shutout against Mercy College on Sunday, April 7 at Mercy Field. The Pioneers prevailed 7-0, Loeschorn struck out seven and limited the Mavericks to two hits.
 
In total, he struck out 13 in 18.0 innings last week while only allowing one earned run, five hits and one walk.
 
This is the second NCBWA East Region Pithcer of the Week honor for the Pioneers so far this season; senior James Varela garnered the recognition on Tuesday, March 13.
