Baseball Earns No. 3 Seed in NCAA Division II East Regional Championship

FULL DIVISION II TOURNAMENT BRACKET

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA revealed its 56-team field for the Division II baseball championship Sunday night, and the LIU Post baseball team received the No. 3 seed in the East Region on the heels of winning its second East Coast Conference (ECC) title in three years yesterday.

The Pioneers' conference title earned them an automatic bid to the national tournament which they last competed in during the 2017 season. No. 2 seed Southern New Hampshire University (36-12, 22-6) will serve as the host while No. 1 seed Adelphi University (34-7-1, 22-2-1) will serve as the other host in the east region. Rounding out for four-team bracket in Manchester, New Hampshire, is No. 6 seed Felician University (30-21, 24-8) who the Pioneers will face on Thursday, May 16 and seventh-seeded Assumption College (26-18, 14-12).

Along with capturing the conference championship, where freshman Giovanni Ciaccio was honored as the Most Outstanding Player, this season the Pioneers rewrote the record books and produced the winningest season in program history, eclipsing the previous program-best season wins record of 32.

In ECC play, LIU Post's .857 winning percentage bested the previous mark of .800 set by Saint Thomas Aquinas College in 2017. Its  24-4 record in ECC games topped the previous conference wins record of 22 set by Molloy College in 2011 and LIU Post in 2010.

Game time along with a full preview will be found on www.liupostpioneers.com later in the week.
