Farrell Named DII Faceoff Player of the Year, Snelders All-America

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its All-America squads and major award winners for the 2019 season on Thursday, May 23, rewarding LIU Post senior Connor Farrell and sophomore William Snelders for outstanding seasons.

The organization tabbed Farrell as the national Faceoff Player of the Year and a first team All-America selection, while also naming Snelders an honorable mention All-American.

Farrell had an unprecedented historical season for the Pioneers, not only rewriting the record books at LIU Post, but also the Division II record books. Farrell won 81.4-percent of his faceoff attempts this season, becoming the first player to ever win more than 80-percent of draws taken. In addition, he also set a new Division II record with 268 ground balls and 16.75 ground balls per game. He also set a new Division II single-game record with 30 ground balls during a win against No. 1-ranked Merrimack College. On the year he posted two perfect faceoff performances (22-22 vs. Molloy, 16-16 vs. Wilmington) and earned a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week five times.

Snelders adds to his postseason resume with his first All-America distinction. On the year he finished seventh in Division II and first in the East Coast Conference with 3.44 goals per game, while also ranking 15th nationally and first in the conference with 4.69 points per game. The sophomore attackman led the Green and Gold in goals, assists, and points, tallying 55, 20, and 75, respectively. Snelders scored at least two goals in every game this season, including a season-high six-goal output against Molloy College.
