THE FIRST LOOK
LIU Post captured the regular season championship after posting a 33-14 overall record and 24-4 record in conference play. With 33 wins, the Pioneers set new program records for both overall and regular season wins.
LIU Post's .857 winning percentage in ECC play tops the previous conference-best mark of .800 set by Saint Thomas Aquinas College in 2017.
With 24 ECC wins, the Pioneers eclipsed the previous conference wins record of 22 set by Molloy College in 2011 and LIU Post in 2010.
The Pioneers' senior class also goes down as the winningest class in school history.
The New York Institute of Technology earned the No. 2 seed after going 31-12 overall and 21-7 in conference play. After posting a 19-27 overall record and a 15-13 ECC record the University of Bridgeport enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed while Queens College is the No. 4 seed with a 25-22-1 overall record and a 14-14 record in conference play.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Queens: LIU Post holds a 40-15 record against the Knights and made history against them on Saturday, May 4 when the Pioneers earned a doubleheader sweep over Queens and won a program-best 33
rd game.
NYIT: The Pioneers are 8-5 all-time against the Bears and 6-2 in the previous three meetings between the two squads.
Bridgeport: LIU Post trails 27-33 all-time against the Purple Knights, but has had much success against them recently. In the last nine contests between the two teams, LIU Post is 7-2.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Queens: LIU Post won three out of the four games against Queens this series, with the Pioneers winning 4-1 on Friday at the LIU Post Baseball Stadium on Friday, May 3 then earning a doubleheader sweep in Flushing, New York on Saturday, May 4. The Pioneers won game one 6-2 and game two 2-0, breaking the previous program wins record of 32 games in the process. On Monday, May 6 LIU Post fell 14-11.

NYIT: The Pioneers also took three games from the Bears this season as they bounced back from a 6-4 loss in game one of the doubleheader at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Field on Saturday, April 27 to win game two 4-2. LIU Post hosted the Bears at the LIU Post Baseball Stadium on Monday, April 29 and Wednesday, May 1 with the Pioneers picking up 5-0 and 10-9 wins.
Loechorn, Lorenzo and junior
Mike Lazos earned wins for LIU Post with Loeshcorn tallying 12 strikeouts in 8.2 innings. Wasson was LIU Post's leader in hits during the series with eight along with three RBI while Brehm finished with seven hits, five RBI and two stolen bases. Manzione recorded three hits and three RBI and Vaglica tallied four hits and two RBI.
Bridgeport: LIU post took three from the Purple Knights, prevailing 2-1 on Friday, April 2 then splitting a doubleheader 1-0, 17-2 on Sunday, April 14 with all three games taking place in Bridgeport, Connecticut. LIU Post returned home for the final game of the series and earned a 5-1 win on Tuesday, April 16.

Mike Stiles earned wins for LIU Post, with Varela tallying 12 strikeouts Stiles 10 and Loeschorn eight.
Manzione led LIU Post at the plate with six hits and two RBI while redshirt junior
Andy Camilo had five hits and one RBI. Freshman
David Franchi had four hits and six RBI while Vaglica and Brehm each tallied four hits and three RBI.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Including all games through Sunday, May 5 LIU Post is nationally-ranked in several categories including walks allowed per nine innings where its 2.26 leads the nation. The Pioneers 1.19 WHIP is ranked third, their 3.49 strikeout-to-walk ratio is fourth and their 3.42 ERA is 10
th. LIU Post's .971 fielding percentage is 19
th.
The Pioneer pitching staff has been dominant, with Loeschorn's .72 WHIP leading the nation. His 1.49 ERA is ranked sixth, he is ninth in victories with nine and also ranks 23
rd in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a 5.80. Varela ranks seventh in strikeouts with 115 and 27
th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.48). Lorenzo's six complete games rank 12
th while he also has a 2.42 ERA and eight wins. Stiles' strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.00 is ranked 36
th nationally.
Senior
Anthony Vaglica is hitting .341 on the season with 45 hits, 31 RBI and on a .458 on base percentage. Sophomore
Christopher Wasson is hitting .332 with 65 hits, 27 RBI and 15 stolen bases while senior
Dave Brehm is hitting .324 to go with 61 hits, 32 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Manzione and junior
Zach Fritz are tied for the team-lead in home runs with seven with Manzione recording 48 hits and 33 RBI and Fritz 36 hits and 35 RBI.
TICKET INFORMATION
Admission will be charged for all fans in attendance for the ECC Championship. Tickets for adults will be $6 and students with valid ID, senior citizens, and children ages 5-12 will be admitted for $3. Children under the age of five will not be charged admission.
