Men's Basketball Jumps Two Notches to 12th in NABC Division II Poll

KANSAS CITY (Nov. 25, 2008) - The NABC/Division II men's basketball weekly poll was released, and the Pioneers moved up two notches in the rankings to 12th in the country, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.  

The Pioneers, who are 2-0 on the season, garner the highest ranking for any team in the Northeast Region, with Bentley, previously ranked third in the NABC pre-season poll, sitting right behind C.W. Post in the 13th slot.  

In their most recent outing, the Pioneers had five players score in double figures as they powered past Millersville, 105-65.  On the season, the Pioneers are paced by Nick Carter (Huntington Station, N.Y.), who is averaging 21.5 points per game, and pre-season All-American Jonathan Schmidt (Centereach, N.Y.) with 15.0 points per game.  Chipping in are seniors Kenny Burkes (Suitland, Md.) and Kevin Spann (West Babylon, N.Y.) with 14.5 and 12.5 ppg, respectively.  

The Pioneers will next travel to Queens on Dec. 3 for a 7 p.m. matchup and their East Coast Conference opener.
