No. 3 Women's Lacrosse Turns Aside St. Thomas Aquinas, 20-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (March 31, 2009) – Senior attacker Jaclyn Napoli (West Islip, N.Y.) netted five goals as No. 3 C.W. Post cruised to a 20-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas in East Coast Conference women's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon on Hickox Field.
The win improves C.W. Post to 6-1 while St. Thomas Aquinas drops to 0-4.
The Pioneers outshot the Spartans by a 39-9 count and held an 18-6 advantage in ground balls.
Senior midfielder
Katie Hogan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior midfielder
Staci Passafiume (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) each tallied three goals for the Pioneers.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored its one goal of the game when junior attacker Lindsey Lawless's shot hit the back of the net with 11:45 remaining in the second half.
C.W. Post got on the board quickly when Hogan scored 26 seconds into the game on a feed from Passafiume. From there, Napoli scored four straight goals to give C.W. Post a 5-0 lead with 22:19 left to play in the first half.

Samantha Lyons (Farmingdale, N.Y.) each added goals in the half and C.W. Post took a 12-0 lead at the break.

Janine Abramo Plainview, N.Y.),
Lauren Romanelli (Oyster Bay, N.Y.),
Caitlin Heraghty (Levittown, N.Y.),
Ashley Olen (East Islip, N.Y.),
Jesse Wolff (West Islip, N.Y.) and
Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) all scored single goals on the Spartans.
Lyons added a game-high four assists while Passafiume assisted on three Pioneer goals. Sophomore
Sam Powers (Holbrook, N.Y.) made two saves in 38 minutes in goal to preserve the win. Sophomore
Marcela Hernandez (Freeport, N.Y.) played the final 22 minutes and made one stop to secure the win.
Junior goalkeeper Kailey Brown made six saves for the Spartans.
C.W. Post returns to action April 4 when the Pioneers host Bentley University at 3 p.m.
