KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Apr. 17, 2016) - The LIU Post men's and women's outdoor track and field teams excelled Sunday at the Omeltchenko Invitational, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.
For the men, junior 
Stefan Adams (Jamaica, N.Y.) ran second in the 400-meter dash, crossing at 49.36. He also led off the Pioneers' 4 x 400-meter relay, which finished at a fifth-place time of 3:27.48.
Fellow junior 
Devin Pettaway (Amityville, N.Y.) jumped over the 400-meter hurdles at a third-place 42.96. Red-shirt junior 
Wayne Harris (Jamaica, N.Y.) recorded a seventh-place showing (11.14) in the 100-meter dash.
Red-shirt freshman 
Kasim Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman 
Jermaine Ifill (Flushing, N.Y.) each won their heat in the 100- and 200-meter dash, sprinting to respective marks of 11.79 and 23.88.
In the 4 x 100-meter relay, the group of Thomas, Harris and red-shirt sophomores 
Ramel Joseph (Jamaica, N.Y.) and 
Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) clocked a third-place 42.96.
The Pioneer women were led by the duo of sophomore 
Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) and senior 
Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.). Williams won the 1,500-meter run in 4:56.23, while Stirling followed in second at 4:57.30.
Junior 
Clara Fischer (Bondorf, Germany) contributed a seventh-place run of 2:28.52 in the 800-meter run. Sophomore 
Nicolette DeSouza (Stroudsburg, Pa.) finished eighth (13.35) in the 100-meter dash and won her heat in the process.
LIU Post returns to action Saturday (Apr. 23), when it vies for a league title at the 2016 East Coast Conference Championships at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester.
