Galeotafiore, Alvarado Claim USILA All-America Honors

PERRY, N.Y. (May 24, 2017) - On Wednesday, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2017 Division II All-America selections, and LIU Post senior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Kris Alvarado (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were tabbed as third-team selections.

Galeotafiore was recognized to the All-East Coast Conference First Team, after winning 106-of-154 faceoffs for the Pioneers this season. His stellar .688 winning percentage ranked third-best amongst the nation's faceoff leaders.

Galeotafiore, who is making his first-ever appearance on the USILA All-America Team, won a league-leading 75.4 percent (80-of-106) of his draws in the team's final nine games, as well.

Meanwhile, Alvarado led the Pioneers' transition game in 2017, helping the green and gold finish with an ECC-best .885 clearing percentage (232-of-262). He also registered two goals and four assists for six points, including a man-up tally in the team's season opener at Saint Leo on Feb. 3.

Additionally, Alvarado collected 32 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers this year and assisted a defensive unit that limited opponents to the second-lowest goals-against average (8.12) in the ECC.
